An Abundance of Looks

I've been doing pretty boring looks lately, but I've been trying to expand so I have something to post. Unfortunately, even when I do something exciting, the pictures are just never good enough. But today I've gone through my memory card and find enough satisfactory pictures to provide my beautiful readers with some content! I have four looks and I'm going to try my very best to remember what I used in each [semi-boring] look.

NOTD: Mint Ombre Spring Nails

I have been struggling with the weather going back to freezing after having a week of summer-like weather, so I had to do a nail in memoriam of the beautiful weather. It was actually an on-the-fly nail since I had intended on picking up one or two polishes from the Essie Resort 2012 collection today, but good ol' Shoppers Drugmart never fails to let me down! So that will have to be for next weekend.

I have also been attempting to get some good pictures of my makeup but nothing is turning out. So I'll have to work on that once I'm done this semester and have a bit more time on my hands (about 1 month!).

As for today, I have a mint green ombre gradient manicure and even though you can't see it, butterfly thumbs!

Used:
Gosh Miss Minty (base)
Sally Hansen Insta Dri Mint Sprint

What's your favourite spring-colour fashion trend so far? I'm loving mints and corals <3

What's Up, Nails?

I've been focussing on makeup a little more lately, so I haven't posted anything about my nails nor have I really been doing anything fancy. I tried to swatch China Glaze Flying Dragon for you, and it really was a lovely colour but photographing it was a nightmare. So maybe next time!

Here I have for you two of my manicures from the last week or so. The first was inspired by this video:

Base colour is: True Colors in Lovely
Sponged on: Wet n Wild in Ebony Hates Chris
Glitter: Nicole by OPI in Make a Comet-ment

Then I was feeling that one was a little bit dark, but I went with a colour that I've actually posted before, so nothing too exciting.

Colour: Essie in Lapiz of Luxury
Accent Nail: 2 coats of Nicole by OPI in Make a Comet-ment
+ 1 coat of Essie Pure Pearlfection

I've been really really busy with school lately, but I'm hoping to get around to doing more posts in the near future. I also got a bunch of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters that I'd like to review for you, soon!

LOTD: Tron: Legacy-Inspired Makeup!

My boyfriend and I decided a couple nights ago to watch Tron: Legacy for a second time because we both love the movie so much. While watching it, I got inspired and decided to do a look based off the movie. The movie has a pretty basic colour scheme; mostly white, black, bright blue and orange/yellow. Therefore, I decided to take inspiration from the colour scheme and the makeup in the movie.

I drew inspiration from the makeup on the Sirens, the programs that get the other programs ready for the games and I also drew inspiration from the scene where Sam and Clue are battling on the light cycles.
Hopefully you all like it :)

China Glaze The Hunger Games Capitol Colors Collection Swatches (4)

To be completely honest, I haven't even read the Hunger Games books, nor do I have any desire to see the movie... but parts of this collection just were must-have regardless of my ignorance of the series. I decided to pick up four of the colours, Agro, Smoke and Ashes, Stone Cold, and Fast Track. Here are the swatches:

Agro is a foiled olive green with gold undertones. I think this one surprised me the most out of all the ones I got because I didn't expect it turn out so duochromey. I love the olive green on its own, but when the sun hits it, this gorgeous gold-green picks up.
The formula was good, but a little on the thick side; it took two coats but was nearly opaque in one.

The white balance is off on this one, but you can see how the gold comes out best in this picture.

Smoke and Ashes is a blacked based polish packed with green-blue duochrome shimmer. In dull light it may look just black, but once light hits it, it just shines with blue and green. It's an extremely complex polish.
The formula, I found to be, very good on this one; it was opaque in two coats.

Stone Cold is a matte! Which is mostly the reason why I picked it up; it's a grey shimmery matte which does look just like stone. When a shiny top coat is applied, it darkens up a bit, but the shimmer in it is just beautiful glossy.
The formula on this was a little hard to work with because mattes dry so fast, but as long as you apply quickly and try to cover your nail in as few strokes as possible, it does apply like a dream.

Ring finger with a coat of Seche Vite on top.

Fast Track has to be the one I was most excited about; while it's just a taupey nude, the shimmer packed into it makes it so interesting. It's got a taupe base with an extreme amount of gold shimmer packed into it. When the light hits this one, the gold just dances; it's amazing.
The formula was thinner than the others, I used three coats to get it opaque, but I could have stopped at two.

Which Hunger Games polishes are you most excited about?

NOTD: Essie Chinchilly Zebra Print + Haul

I went out to Sally's yesterday, just like I promised, and picked up 4 polishes from the Hunger Games collection, but there was so many sales on, I couldn't resist picking up more! I got two Magnetix polishes and China Glaze Flying Dragon. I'll be swatching the Hunger Games polishes this weekend, so look forward to that!

For now, I present you with my nails of the day! (Or past few days at least). It's Essie Chinchilly, a creme taupey grey with white Konad stamped zebra print on top. It's gotten me quite a few compliments at work already today!
