Collaboration with Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki!

So as you can see from the last week, I have been trying to find some time between school and studying to get this blog active again. In my attempt to do this, fellow Canadian blogger Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki and I have been corresponding about doing a collaboration! I'm really excited about this collaboration as I think Nikki is very talented and the theme is just awesome.

As you may know about me, I absolutely love the products coming from Makeup Geek. If you read Nikki's blog, you'll know that she also totally loves Makeup Geek, so building off our idea for a colour palette theme, we decided to choose colours coming from the Makeup Geek eyeshadow line that we both owned and use those in our look. This will be a two part collaboration - part 1 using Nikki's colour palette and part 2 using mine!

Today I will be showing you part 1. Nikki chose this really wonderful colour palette with a camouflage feel. Her colours were:

I originally did a mostly green look with a burgundy undereye but it was more of a test try that I wanted to eventually redo in good. Then my eyes got infected. I'm on day 4 of eye infection right now and wearing makeup is a no-go. But I really wanted this collaboration to have my heart and soul in it, so I chose the least infected eye and decided to do my look in good!

I remembered this look that I had done in February that I never posted (because it wasn't up to par) that used Shimmermint and Burlesque. So using that idea, I redid my look much different than my original idea. This look had a Burlesque cut-crease blended out with Preppy; it has a Shimmermint lid with the outer corner darkened with Poison Ivy. Finally, the undereye has some Mocha to darken the lashline. I like this look much more than my previous one, so I hope you do too!

Used:
  • Makeup Geek colours
  • MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert Mascara
  • Ardell Demi-Whispies

Stay tuned for next week for part 2 of this wonderful collaboration!!

EOTD: Autumn Round 2

I felt like trying another autumn look today. It's a little brighter and less smokey than the other one (which I absolutely loved). I used a Makeup Geek gel liner which were released recently that I have had mixed reactions about! The colours are fabulous, but the formula on some of them is a bit tricky.

Here's the look!

and a little something I put together with the usage of the colours:

Used:
  • Makeup Geek Gold Digger
  • Makeup Geek Burlesque
  • Urban Decay Snakebite mixed with Blackout
  • Makeup Geek Glamorous mixed with Chickadee
  • Makeup Geek Poison
  • Urban Decay Foxy
  • Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 eyeliner with Burlesque on top

EOTD: Autumn look

I decided to take some time out of my homework session tonight to create a look to enter in the Makeup Geek Autumn competition only to realize after I had taken off the makeup that I needed to take a picture holding a hand-written sign to legitimize the entry, so I'll have to redo it at a later date. But for now, I have a picture of the look to share on here. I also took pictures to post a step-by-step later on when I have time to put it together!

    • Snakebite

FOTD: Naked 2 and a Red Lip + Hiatus

Hi Everyone!
I hope you enjoyed my review yesterday of the Maybelline Superstays! It may be clear that lately I have not been posting at all, and there is a good reason for that... and that reason means that I am going to have to take an official hiatus so that I don't end up abandoning this blog because I love it so much.

As you may know if you read my very first post in this blog, I'm in university going towards my B.A. in Law and Justice and this year I'll be graduating. School starts on Wednesday (2 days away!) and 1 month from tomorrow I'm writing my LSATs (Law School Admission Test). This is basically the most important test of my life thus far (I imagine the Bar exam will be up there too :P) and I need to be spending any minute I have that isn't spent at work or at school studying for it. On top of that, in the next 2 months I need to have my applications for law schools finished! It is going to be a crazy 4 months and I don't imagine I'll have time for blogging, if I even have time in the morning to put my face on!

So, I am going to hiatus this blog and hope that my loyal followers will stick around til my next post because I love you so!

On that note, I will leave you with my FOTD; I bought a Gosh Long Lasting Lip Marker on Saturday and I've worn it twice and it is officially my favourite colour lipstick to wear. It is not as long lasting as the Maybelline ones I reviewed yesterday but I am LOVING the colour <3

Review: Maybelline Superstay 24 Color

I recently discovered this little makeup gem a few weeks ago. My biggest thing about lip colours is that I have to constantly reapply during the day - that I'll never get through talking to customers all day at work or eating lunch with these magnificent red lips lasting. So when I tried these Maybelline Superstay 24 Color that my friend had purchased I was amazed and impressed and in love. Nothing is perfect, but these little gems are close.
I'm going to talk about these in general and show you swatches of the 5 that I have.
