Collaboration Part 3 with Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki!

Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki and I decided to continue on our collaboration with parts 3 and 4. Part 3 is a colour palette of my selection using some new Makeup Geek eyeshadows that I recently received. Makeup Geek's eyeshadows are just amazing and getting increasingly better with new releases. They're amazing!

This part includes the eyeshadows: Drama Queen (a dark purple), Bitten (dark blood red), Country Girl (a muted pinky red), and Glamorous (a bronzey gold). Enjoy!

On my lips is:

Chocolatey Purples Look

Hello Everyone!
I know I've been gone for so long, but I have had lots going on. Since the last post I made, I received my score for the LSAT... and registered to write again in February. I spent a long month doing all of my course work and trying my best to get excellent grades. I wrote 4 exams and completed my Fall semester in my fourth year of university. I started and finished my Christmas shopping, followed my an excellent last couple days of Christmas. And finally, I realized writing this post that it is my 1 year birthday for my blog!
Happy Birthday, Holding Beauty!
And thank you to all my followers for being loyal and beautiful and supportive! Couldn't have done it without you.

So my plan for today is to post two looks. I got some makeup and new brushes for Christmas and wanted to play today since I wasn't doing anything else (we're basically the only city in Ontario... Canada...that still has Boxing Day off). So, I put a different look on each eye and I am going to devote 1 post to each look :)

Here is look 1, which I am calling: Chocolatey Purples!

Collaboration Part 2 with Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki!

Here we go again with part 2 of my collaboration with Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki! This second part is with the colours that I chose for the look, which ended up having a purple theme because I love MUG purples! <3

See Nikki's look here

I had an idea for this look for a while now and I waited til the last minute to persecute so I was actually extremely happy with how this turned out. I wanted to go for a purple smokey eye winged out in a cat-eye manner with a crease blended out with orange (or in this case with Chickadee - an orange-yellow). I am very pleased with how this came out and I hope you will all like it as well. :)

The colours used in part 2 of the collab are:

And finally, how I used each colour in the collab :)

    • Sensuous
    • Chickadee

Cervical Cancer Awareness look

I am writing a special post today in dedication to one of my best friends. She was recently given an unexpected diagnosis of Cervical Cancer at 21 years old. Fortunately, the early diagnosis of cervical cancer is a very good thing as cervical cancer ends up being very curable; one of the most curable cancers.

This look is for cervical cancer awareness done for my friend because she means a lot to me. So let's look at some facts with regard to awareness:

  • cervical cancer is the third most common type of cancer in women
  • cervical cancer is largely preventable and curable with REGULAR Pap tests and pelvic exams;
    • in fact, cervical cancer is much less common in the United States because of routine pap tests.
  • when discovered as precancerous cells during a pap smear, it is 100% treatable
  • early cervical cancer has no symptoms, so regular pap smears are extremely important
  • sexually active women should undergo Pap tests starting at 21 and should be done every one to two years
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but let's face it ladies: We have other female parts which are extremely susceptible to cancer as well; so let's take the moment to learn a thing or two about cervical cancer today in addition to making sure we're getting regularly screened for early detection! Extremely treatable upon early detection.

So here's the look I did; the ribbon for Cervical Cancer awareness is teal and white so this look reflects that. I hope everyone likes it; this look and cause are very important to me.

Collaboration with Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki!

So as you can see from the last week, I have been trying to find some time between school and studying to get this blog active again. In my attempt to do this, fellow Canadian blogger Nikki from Makeup Junkie Nikki and I have been corresponding about doing a collaboration! I'm really excited about this collaboration as I think Nikki is very talented and the theme is just awesome.

As you may know about me, I absolutely love the products coming from Makeup Geek. If you read Nikki's blog, you'll know that she also totally loves Makeup Geek, so building off our idea for a colour palette theme, we decided to choose colours coming from the Makeup Geek eyeshadow line that we both owned and use those in our look. This will be a two part collaboration - part 1 using Nikki's colour palette and part 2 using mine!

Today I will be showing you part 1. Nikki chose this really wonderful colour palette with a camouflage feel. Her colours were:

I originally did a mostly green look with a burgundy undereye but it was more of a test try that I wanted to eventually redo in good. Then my eyes got infected. I'm on day 4 of eye infection right now and wearing makeup is a no-go. But I really wanted this collaboration to have my heart and soul in it, so I chose the least infected eye and decided to do my look in good!

I remembered this look that I had done in February that I never posted (because it wasn't up to par) that used Shimmermint and Burlesque. So using that idea, I redid my look much different than my original idea. This look had a Burlesque cut-crease blended out with Preppy; it has a Shimmermint lid with the outer corner darkened with Poison Ivy. Finally, the undereye has some Mocha to darken the lashline. I like this look much more than my previous one, so I hope you do too!

Used:
  • Makeup Geek colours
  • MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes Curve Alert Mascara
  • Ardell Demi-Whispies

Stay tuned for next week for part 2 of this wonderful collaboration!!

I felt like trying another autumn look today. It's a little brighter and less smokey than the other one (which I absolutely loved). I used a Makeup Geek gel liner which were released recently that I have had mixed reactions about! The colours are fabulous, but the formula on some of them is a bit tricky.

Here's the look!

  • Makeup Geek Burlesque
  • Urban Decay Snakebite mixed with Blackout
  • Makeup Geek Glamorous mixed with Chickadee

EOTD: Autumn look

I decided to take some time out of my homework session tonight to create a look to enter in the Makeup Geek Autumn competition only to realize after I had taken off the makeup that I needed to take a picture holding a hand-written sign to legitimize the entry, so I'll have to redo it at a later date. But for now, I have a picture of the look to share on here. I also took pictures to post a step-by-step later on when I have time to put it together!

    • Snakebite

FOTD: Naked 2 and a Red Lip + Hiatus

Hi Everyone!
I hope you enjoyed my review yesterday of the Maybelline Superstays! It may be clear that lately I have not been posting at all, and there is a good reason for that... and that reason means that I am going to have to take an official hiatus so that I don't end up abandoning this blog because I love it so much.

As you may know if you read my very first post in this blog, I'm in university going towards my B.A. in Law and Justice and this year I'll be graduating. School starts on Wednesday (2 days away!) and 1 month from tomorrow I'm writing my LSATs (Law School Admission Test). This is basically the most important test of my life thus far (I imagine the Bar exam will be up there too :P) and I need to be spending any minute I have that isn't spent at work or at school studying for it. On top of that, in the next 2 months I need to have my applications for law schools finished! It is going to be a crazy 4 months and I don't imagine I'll have time for blogging, if I even have time in the morning to put my face on!

So, I am going to hiatus this blog and hope that my loyal followers will stick around til my next post because I love you so!

On that note, I will leave you with my FOTD; I bought a Gosh Long Lasting Lip Marker on Saturday and I've worn it twice and it is officially my favourite colour lipstick to wear. It is not as long lasting as the Maybelline ones I reviewed yesterday but I am LOVING the colour <3

Review: Maybelline Superstay 24 Color

I recently discovered this little makeup gem a few weeks ago. My biggest thing about lip colours is that I have to constantly reapply during the day - that I'll never get through talking to customers all day at work or eating lunch with these magnificent red lips lasting. So when I tried these Maybelline Superstay 24 Color that my friend had purchased I was amazed and impressed and in love. Nothing is perfect, but these little gems are close.
I'm going to talk about these in general and show you swatches of the 5 that I have.

EOTD: Mint Vanilla Chocolate

Hey guys! Hope your summer is going well. Mine has been fairly busy working quite a bit, volunteering, and seeing some friends so I haven't had much time to do makeup and get decent pictures of it for a post. I have a few looks planned and an awesome review coming up, but til then I have another Makeup Bee Competition entry to share with you (and encourage those who like it to vote ; ) Thank you!)

The competition this time around is to be inspired by Shu Uemura's new Chocolate Donna Fantasy collection. I decided to look through the products in this collection and found the Mint Vanilla palette which inspired this look. I loved the colours together and the idea of mint chocolate since it's my favourite kind. I think I could have made it look a bit more chocolatey and probably even added some more mint colour in it, but I love how it turned out and I hope you do to!

Again, if you like it you can vote HERE, you can make an account or sign in with Facebook or Twitter and just click "LUV" ! Thanks guys!

I finally got to use my Gosh Holographic Silver effect powder which is sparkly and amazing and I used my Sugarpill Saint lashes which are the best lashes I've ever seen!
Onto the look!

EOTD: Blue Ring Angel Fish

The amazing community MakeupBee is having a tropical competition right now, and while looking through Google images for inspiration I came across this picture of a Blue Ring Angel Fish (which is obviously a tropical fish). I just knew right away that I had to do a look inspired by it so I made a facechart with ideas. I usually have a hard time translating from my facechart to my face, but this time I really knew what I wanted and it came out perfectly in my opinion! If you like my look you can vote for me here (you need an account, so just sign in and click on the "LUV" button next to my look :). Thanks guys!
